ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Pauline Hansen grew up in a tiny town where she went everywhere barefoot, played in the ditch, and anticipated the arrival of the bookmobile every two weeks. Her love of reading led her to dream of someday becoming an author. In addition to reading and writing, Pauline enjoys traveling, spring cleaning, cooking, organizing, and spending time with her family. After nearly twenty five years living in the city, she now resides once again in her tiny hometown in southern Utah with her husband, three of their five children, and two cats.  Patchwork Reality is her first publication.

INTERVIEW

What is your name, where were you born and where do you live now?

Hi! I'm Pauline Hansen. I was born in Panguitch, Utah. I grew up and now reside once again in the tiny town of Cannonville, Utah. I love country life, and I live in some of the most beautiful scenery I know of.

What do you do to unwind and relax? Do you have a hobby?

Reading! But other than books, I love spring cleaning, organizing, cooking, planning and taking vacations, and spending time with family. And indulging in mint truffles.

Do you think ebooks will ever totally replace printed books?

I hope not. Emphatically! Personally, I will never transfer to e-readers. I've read some in a kindle app, but I highly prefer a real book. My dream room in my dream house is my very own library, with a window seat and plush arm chairs, and lots of books, of course!

What is the name of your latest book, and if you had to summarise it in less than 20 words what would you say?

Patchwork Reality; Happily Married to a Schizophrenic. It's a memoir detailing the nine years my family went through before my husband was eventually diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

Did it take a long time to get your first book published?

I guess you might call my situation beginners luck, because I only had to query one publisher to have my manuscript accepted. I think that is due to the unusual subject and story line. It really is a fascinating story, and I say that because it is my husband's creation, not mine :)

What can we expect from you in the future?  ie More books of the same genre? Books of a different genre?

I'd really like to write a children's book series, plus I have a dramatic romance fictional series that's been bouncing around in my head for a few years now. I have a sweet small-town based romance written, but it needs lots of polishing.

Did you read a lot at school and write lots of stories or is being a writer something newer in your life?

I devoured books as a youth and a teenager. I'd sometimes read a book a day, plus I had a book nearly everywhere I went, so that whenever I had a moment to read, I could pull it out. I didn't write until about 13 years ago, though. Whenever I would read, I was in awe of how anyone could actually do something like write a book, and at the back of my mind, I would always think, "I would love to write a book someday.
